Happy St Andrews Day to you all.
We are approaching the first Sunday of Advent. A time to prepare for Christmas. Not just the buying of presents, cards, decorations and food for the festivities– there are all important but Advent is a time to prepare ourselves spiritually for the coming of Our Lord at Christmas. We could spend this time praying more, helping others or just finding some more time in our busy lives to spend with Jesus. On Monday we will be lighting the first purple candle on our Advent wreath in assembly and thinking about the greatest gift of all at Christmas– the birth of Jesus.
Still on the theme of the Nativity the children in Years 1 and 2 have been busy getting their performances ready for 5th and 6th December at 2pm for us all to see. It is always lovely. The singing I have heard so far is beautiful– we are in for a treat!
I have also heard the lovely singing of carols that Year 3 have been doing getting ready for the schools carol concert at Rochester Cathedral. This will be on Thursday 6th December in the afternoon– every child will receive one ticket for a friend/relative to come along. This is also a moving service with lots of other schools in Medway singing along in the amazing surroundings of the cathedral.
I would like to hold a Christmas card competition– I have asked the children to design an amazing Christmas card– the more colourful the better! It needs to be A5 size i.e. A4 folded for easy posting and have our schools name on the front. The winning entry will be our official St Michael’s School Christmas card and will be sent out to all of the friends of the school. Could these please be brought into the school by Wednesday 5th December for final judging– winner announced in next weeks newsletter.
Have a great weekend Mrs K Sexton
